D-ID Biometric Privacy Policy
1. Background
This Biometric Privacy Policy describes how De-Identification Ltd. and De-Identification Inc. (together, “D-ID”, “our”, “we” or “us”) collect, use, disclose, secure and retain Biometric Information (defined below) when you (“you”) use our services. Please read this Biometric Privacy Policy carefully and ensure that you understand it before sharing any Biometric Information with us.
2. What is Biometric Information
When we refer to “Biometric Information”, we mean information generated by measurements of your physical, behavioral, or biological characteristics that are used to identify you, which may include eye, hand, or face scans, face geometry, face landmarks, fingerprints, or voiceprints.
3. What Biometric Information Do We Collect and/or Process and for what Purposes?
For example, to create your avatar, process your image for saying text or uploaded audio, process your voice in order to attach it to an image or created video, to create a clone of your voice for future uses, etc. as part of our services, we may need to scan the video footage that you uploaded, and we may collect, process, and store Biometric Information such as face geometry and voice prints, gait, and other features as a result, such as your image for saying text or uploaded audio or your voice in order to attach it to an image or created video. We also use Biometric Information as otherwise required in order to provide our services and/or to enforce our rights under the D–ID Products Terms of Use (and/or any other applicable agreement between us), including any right to moderate your content.
We also use your videos and Biometric Information to verify your identity as part of the avatar creation process, to help us detect and prevent fraud and for other security and compliance purposes. We may use third party service providers in order to perform such verification, or otherwise as part of our moderation process, with whom we will share your Biometric Information.
More specifically, we use your Biometric Information, inter alia, in the following cases:
- Our processing of your voice involves biometric processing so that the voice can be used for generation of speech in a synthesized voice similar to the voice uploaded as part of your Applicative Data (as defined in our Privacy Policy).
- In case of voice cloning, the voice sample and template are stored for your future use. Creating this voice template in the library involves processing of Biometrical Information.
- Processing of your image and transforming it into a moving image (when it speaks your text) also involves extraction and use of biometric features.
- Processing of your videos for creation of your avatar involves extraction and use of biometric features.
- Processing of your video to video requests involves extraction and use of biometric features.
Biometric Information is not used to improve our products and services (nor to train the AI models that power them).
4. Data Retention
We retain your Biometric Information as long as necessary or relevant to create and maintain your avatar or for the maximum timeframe permitted under applicable law, whichever occurs first, unless legally required to keep it for a shorter period. At the end of the retention period, we will permanently destroy your Biometric Information.
